We had great weather this weekend so we loaded up and headed to Stillwater for OSU's season opener. Jackson had a great time at his first OSU baseball game and I'm sure we'll be back for more! He even managed to make it home with a baseball.

Most of the time I am some what skeptical of the local weather forecast. They call for rain and it's sunny and hot, they call for beautiful weather and it's windy and miserable. Well this time they called for a blizzard and what did we get.....exactly that. A blizzard. Winds up to 45 mph and 14 inches of snow with snow drifts up to 4 feet in some areas around our house. Needless to say, we were home bound for a few days. Now, I am not a big fan of the cold weather, so I thought I would let Jackson and his daddy 'bond' in the snow and venture outside. You'll notice some of the first few pictures are taken from inside.....yeah, I know......what a wuss.

Oh and yes, those are Wal-Mart sacks on my son's feet. He doesn't have a pair of snow boots due to the fact that his feet grow and the speed of light and his mother is too cheap to buy any because she knew he wouldn't spend "enough time" in them.

So we improvised :)

Jackson Rew has turned 2!

He has been quite the busy little guy lately. He loves trucks, buses, airplanes, basically any form of transportation. He also loves his baseball tee (thanks Uncle Nick and Aunt Taylor), which he currently takes batting practice with in the entry way :) He also loves jumping on his trampoline in the backyard (thanks Midgie and Papaw).

We have also been jamming out to all different kinds of music (Auntie Em has helped out in this department). He has recently become a big fan of the show Yo Gabba Gabba! (not really sure what a Gabbba is, but he loves it) He also loves to read books. He has quite the collection going (thanks Namaw and G-dad).

He sleeps about 12-13 hours a night, (which his momma loves) and naps about 2 hours a day.

At the moment, Jackson is more of a vegetarian than anything. He loves green beans, peas and is starting to eat broccoli. He also likes cheeses, sandwiches with peanut butter, yogurt,

mac n'cheese and other non-meat things. He will occasionally indulge in chic-fil-a chicken nuggets and a hot dog.

Jackson continues to be a talker. He puts 3-5 words together and loves to boss Kaycee around. His personality has totally blossomed and we look forward to spring so we can get outside!

I realize it has been WAY too long since I updated the blog and to be honest, I haven't been a very good photographer lately either. Since Jackson was born, Daniel and I try to take an "adults only" trip each summer. Last summer we went to Chicago and this summer it was Minneapolis. Most of you know Daniel's roommate from college, Scott Baker, plays for the Minnesota Twins, so we decided we would take trip to check out the new ballpark and see the Bakers.

This weekend was "Baby Fest" at the Expo Center here in Tulsa and since Saturday we didn't have much going on, we thought we would go check it out. While we were there, we noticed there was a "Cutest Baby" contest, so we decided to enter Jackson in the contest, and he got 2nd place!!!

(of course we thought he was the cutest one, being his parents and all),

but we were very proud of his "accomplishment" and is $1o0 second-place prize!

1 year Check-up....a little late

I know I am a bit behind on Jackson's 1 year checkup but here are his stats and what he's been up to:

Height: 32 1/2 in (>97% off the charts)

Weight: 21lbs 12oz (36%)

Head Circumference: 47 1/4 (76%)

*You wear 12-18 month clothes and size 4 diapers

*You eat table food and drink cow's milk from a sippy cup and 1 bottle before bed.

*You are still a jabber box and say things like "this" and "that".

* You sign, all-done, more and eat.

*You LOVE LOVE music and not cheesy"baby" stuff, but classic rock/hip-hop/country etc. (I think you are that way b/c all the dancing and singing I did when I was pregnant with you) and the theme song to Jeopardy (seriously you gave me the more sign over and over one day so I kept rewinding the song and let you dance to it.)

*You aren't walking yet, but you pull up and walk around everything and even stand alone for periods of time....any day now.

*You blow kisses, give hugs, brush your hair and pretend to yawn.

*This by far has been my favorite stage with you.....you rock Jackson!!

My baby is 9 months old!! Can you believe it?!

Let's see how big he is and what he's been up to:

Weight: 20lbs 6oz (49th percentile)

Height: 32 in. (>97th percentile, off the chart)

1. You started crawling at 8 1/2 months and haven't stopped.

2. You have had your first 2 ear infections (back to back), which caused your sleeping at night to be completely thrown off, but we think we now have it figured out. (Thank you Zyrtec!)

3. You wear 9-12 & 12-18 month clothing.

4. You jabber all the time saying: ma-ma, da-da, ba-ba, ga-ga.

5. You wave bye-bye and have been clapping for a couple months now.

6. You are eating finger foods and you LOVE Cheerios....and so does Duke, because you would hate for him to starve so you kindly share with him.

7. You have two big teeth on top, with one on each side coming in , and two on the bottom.

8. You still like your pacifier and use it mostly and naps and nighttime.

9. You still aren't a napper, and probably never will be, but you take 1 morning and 1 afternoon nap that usually range from 30 minutes- 1hour.

10. You go to bed around 7:00 each night.

11. You started Mother's Day Out 2 days a week. and really seem to like it.

12. Finally, your newest trick "TOUCHDOWN." (see picture below)

Jackson started his first week of Mother's Day Out, at our church St. Dunstan's, last week. He goes there Mondays and Wednesdays 9:30-2:30 and seems to have a really good time, plus Mom gets a nice break too :). The first couple of pictures are from his first day. He also "carries" his backpack that was a gift from his 2nd-cousin, Stephanie.

If you look closely, you will notice his GIANT top teeth!

Football Frenzy!! (and other random pictures...)

This weekend was a weekend of a couple of firsts: Jackson attended his first football game. On Friday night we went to the Jenks vs Union game and of course we had to find Jackson a Jenks shirt. So, on the way to the game we stopped off at Walgreen's and picked up this youth small t-shirt(that's the smallest they had.)It did the job and he looked really cute and Jenks won!

Unfortunately, another first this weekend was OSU's first loss of the season. I won't say much more about it, but Jackson was sporting his OSU jersey, (thank you Carissa!)

Again, he looked really cute, but not a great outcome.

Jackson and I both spend most of the first part of our day in our pj's. Here are a couple of pictures from one of our rainy days this week.

Jackson is 6 months old!!

He weighs 17lbs 15oz (60th percentile) and is 29 in. long (>97th percentile-off the charts). I can't believe he's already that old!

I have been slacking, once again, but I was waiting to get his 6-month pictures before I wrote this post. My friend Alayna , who is an interior designer by day and a start-up photographer by night, (literally, she has taken 2 classes) came over to "practice"on Jackson and as you can see, she did a wonderful job! She also came over this morning and took more pictures( those will be posted in a week or so). I am so grateful she was able to do this and she is incredibly talented.....thanks again Alayna!!

On another note, since I'm not much of the scrap -booking type ( I know, you are all shocked), blogging is the "creatively-challenged" way of keeping a good record of your child's life. So the following is a brief overview of Jackson's first 6 months:

Newborn:

The first two weeks of your life you were a breeze. You napped all day and actually slept pretty well at night. You were a very calm baby.......And then the 3-week marker hit and I wondered what happened to my sweet-easy baby.......from weeks 3 to 10, while you were awake, all you did was SCREAM and CRY! That's right, ALL THE TIME. Not an exaggeration at all, ask anyone who came over to let me escape. I had no idea what to do and nothing really seemed to help and trust me, we tried EVERYTHING, driving around in the car (which you hated your car seat so that didn't work), singing to you, feeding you (yes, you even screamed when you ate-so we tried reflux medicine), going on walks in the stroller (again the car seat problem), and the biggest kicker of all.....you REFUSED to take a pacifier.I truly had no idea what to do. Unfortunately at night, from about 6:30-10, it got worse and you would only stop if your daddy or I would walk around with you. Many "discussions" occurred over who's turn it was to walk around with you :)Needless to say the first couple months were pretty rough.

3 months:

Then thank God for the the 3 month mark! The screaming slowly subsided and you actually became more enjoyable to be around, (I know the truth kind of hurts). Your latest "curveball" you threw me: cat-naps. That's right, good-bye to the long 2-4 hour naps and hello to the world of 30-minute "power naps" , which only took place in the swing because that's the ONLY place you would nap. By the way, that began at 8 weeks and that took some getting used to. At 11 weeks, you were moved to your room and the first week I was a bit anxious about it, but you did great. Oh, I forgot to mention, you loved being swaddled.....your Mimza and Pa-paw used to tell me I had you in a straight-jacket, but you loved it. And your daddy used to joke that you would be swaddled until you were 16 years old. Of course that won't be the case because at about 5 1/2 months you decided you were finished with the swaddle.

4-5 months:

By 4 months you were beginning to roll-over and becoming more active. You loved your play-mat and started to notice the dogs more. You started eating rice cereal and then moved very smoothly to fruits and veggies. So far, there's not a thing you won't eat! At this point you have been wearing 6-month clothes for a while and you are in size 3 diapers. Still, you are napping in your swing, but only for the 30-min power naps and also you are starting to hate your car seat less! We noticed you LOVE to be around people and are quite the social-butterfly.....no idea where you get this from :). So we attend many play- dates and love when visitors come for the weekend.

6 months:

So here we are at the half-year mark. You are getting bigger by the month and starting to really be a lot of fun! You wear 6-9 month and 6-12 month clothes. You roll over like a pro and sit up all by yourself. No crawling yet, but you have started to scoot backwards a couple times. You spend a lot of time in your exersaucer (thank God for whoever invented that thing) and you also sit on the floor and play with toys. Most babies are glued to the t.v. if a Baby Einstein is on, but not you, you are hooked to the tube when baseball is on. YES!!! Something mommy and daddy BOTH love to watch! You sit in a high chair when we go out to eat and still LOVE "real"food. Duke and Kaycee (the dogs) make you laugh and you smile all the time. You are only fussy when you are tired, and believe it or not......you have decided to take naps that are 1-2 hours long AND you take them in your crib!!!!! This has been a life-saver for me. You also really enjoy going on walks and sleep with a blue crotchet blanket. Here's something else that surprises me, you take a pacifier now! I don't know where this came from, but it has helped us both a lot. Your first tooth is coming through on the bottom-right side and so far, teething hasn't been too bad.....knock on wood. You have also been ear-ache free and we still don't know what color your eyes are.

So that's what we know about you so far Jackson Rew. We started out a little rocky but are now having fun and getting into the swing of things! We love you and can't wait to see what the next 6 months brings!!

We spent Daniel's first Father's Day at his first Triathlon. We are very proud of him! Here are some pictures from the day.

WARNING: This post does not contain pictures of Jackson. I know most of you will be disappointed, but this is a post about our first trip without Jackson. You have been warned.

Daniel and I took a trip to Chicago a couple weeks ago and had a WONDERFUL time! It was really nice to actually have a conversation and enjoy some time together. We definitely missed the little guy, but we knew he was in good hands. Here are some pictures from our trip!

We stayed with my mom's long-time friend (Cindy) and her boyfriend (Tom). Their place is unbelievable and they were great hosts.

These are our new "Louisiana" friends, Kieffer and Carson. Carson and Scott went to high school together.

Here we are sporting our Scott Baker t-shirt jerseys that Leann (Scott's wife) got for us. We wore them the day he pitched. And surprisingly, none of the Cubs fans yelled at us.....there were actually quite a few Twins fans there.

After the game on Saturday, we went to a local Wrigleyville bar, "Rock-It", and Rock-it we did, maybe a little too much. We were able to watch the College World Series Games and got to see the Hogs and Tigers win, so it was a good day for both couples.

After our 4-month check-up today, I think Jackson has a future in basketball. He weighed in at 15lbs 5oz (57th percentile) and the most impressive stat: he is 28in long (over 97th percentile!). Here are some pictures from the past couple weeks.

This past Friday we spent evening in Stillwater for Daniel's graduation. He now has his Masters' of Industrial Engineering and Management. We are very proud of him!! Here are some pictures from the night.

Jackson's Baptism

This past weekend we had Jackson baptized in our church, St. Dunstan's. It turned out to be a really great weekend. Uncle Nick (who got to meet Jackson for the first time) and Aunt Taylor flew in from Nashville and Auntie Em came in from D.C. to be here to celebrate a very important day in Jackson's life. The baptism started at 9 p.m. and lasted until 11 p.m and surprisingly, Jackson was great! He didn't fuss at all and was awake the ENTIRE time. He also didn't cry when Mother Mary Ann poured the holy water on his head. I was a very proud Momma! Unfortunately in all the excitement, I didn't get a picture of Jackson by himself in his Baptism outfit, we may just have to do a "photo shoot"this weekend!

"WEIGHING 12lbs 7oz, STANDING(well sort of) 24 1/2 INCHES TALL,THE PRIDE OF JENKS OKLAHOMA.......... JACKSON "THE KICKIN' KANGA" REW!!!!

We had our 2 month check-up last week and Jackson is in the 75th percentile for weight and the 92nd percentile for height. He also had his first round of shots and took it like a "champ!"

Jackson has been quite the social butterfly lately. He has been "playing" with lots of his friends. Here are some pictures from our "playdates."

This happens to be the only pacifier Jackson will take(gift from Rachel). I thought all the Hog fans would appreciate this. But in his defense, he doesn't have and OSU pacifier, how that happened, I'm not sure. He will be getting one soon!

Jackson has had quite a few visitors over the past week. I try to get a picture of everyone who comes to visit him. We love visitors! Mimza (my mom) will be in for the day on Friday and Grandma and Grandad (Daniel's parents) will be here Sunday!

What a Difference a Year Makes

So this Valentine's Day I got to spend it with my two favorite boys. Let's just say that this time last year, Valentine's Day was a pretty rough day for us, but this year has truly been a blessing. It's amazing how things can turn around in a year.

You'll notice my "Valentine" sent me an adorable candy bouquet after keeping me up all night the night before!

I have noticed that Jackson changes so much daily and has some very expressive faces...wonder who he gets that from?? Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day and got to spend it with someone you love...because I sure did!

Baby's Room, Bouncy Seat & Bath Time

For those of you who haven't seen Jackson's room, I added some pictures. I still need some fun art for the walls, but I thought I would go ahead and share the "work in progress." Also, Jackson got to take a bath in his bathtub for the first time the other day (we were waiting for his umbilical cord to fall off). Is it me or does he look huge in those pictures?! And finally, after Rachel and Leanne left this weekend, we decided to tryout the bouncy seat (they swear by it). He seems to like it and you will notice he has an audience.

Jackson's Visitors

Jackson's best buddies, Holden and McCoy, came to visit this weekend. It was the first time all 3 boys were together and as you can tell from the pictures, getting them all to "pose" for the camera was quite difficult. We all had a great time and laughed a whole lot while trying to get a good picture!
